With the aim to empower women, to help them participate in the growth and development of India, Manjiri Trust was started by Ms. Sheila Ghatate, Former ‐ Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women and others. The first President of Manjiri was Mr. Bipin Patel, grandson of Late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Manjiri provides structured vocational training to underprivileged women in the field of computer skill, nursing attendants training, tailoring, embroidery, short term trainings like mehandi classes, screen printing, bag making etc. It also provides a placement service for employing women in all types of jobs from office assistants to nursing attendants, receptionists, computer operators to household help etc. All these services are provided free of charge. These projects of Manjiri, were taken over by Sir Gangadharrao Chitnavis Trust from April, 2009 and the Trust continues to run all these projects, successfully and with increasing enthusiasm, each year. Regular health awareness talks for these ladies, on subjects like oral care, eye care, women’s health issues, etc. are organized by the Trust. Till date nearly 3000 needy women have been placed at different places like homes, hospitals, and small companies not only in Nagpur but also other cities of India and also in abroad.
