ABOUT US

Sir Gangadharao Chitnavis Memorial Medical Research Trust is a registered public charitable trust registered under the provision of the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, which works in the field of human welfare, human rights, medical relief & education, protection of the environment, social human welfare, medical relief for the poor, establishment of schools/institutions for imparting of education, establishment of institutions for promotion of Arts and Culture.

Shri Madhavrao Gangadharao Chitnavis founded the Trust in the memory of his father Sir Gangadharrao Madhavrao Chitnavis in the year 1972. The primary objective of the Trust was to promote Medical Research. The objectives have since been enlarged to include human welfare, protection of human rights, medical relief, education, promotion of art and culture and protection of the environment.

The Trust is registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 bearing registration number PTR E-831 (Nagpur), under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act and under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 (Registration No 083870175).

Our vision is to educate, inspire and enrich the community through creative and intellectual pursuits. Every person should have the opportunity to enjoy Human Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India, achieve his/her fullest potential through creative and intellectual pursuits, and participate in and contribute to all aspects of life.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide a platform to create a lasting impact on the lives of the differently challenged by promoting and protecting their Human Rights and dignity, and by inspiring, equipping and mobilizing them with the necessary knowledge and skills needed for better survival and sustainability; to promote performing arts, visual arts & crafts, and literature; create social awareness through discourse and debate, organise programmers to encourage innovation and social enterprise, promote the protection of the environment and conservation of our heritage, and bring together people from all walks of life to create a more responsive, perceptive community.

WHAT WE DO ?

  • Establish and operate an early intervention center for hearing impaired children and provide medical facility and soft skills to differently-abled and needy youth to provide free service, guidance and assistance to enable them to gain sustainability and employment.
  • Enhance knowledge of Mathematics and English language through training, provide facility of libraries; provide scholarships to needy and disadvantaged children in order to help them to excel in school and also provide for extracurricular activities for their holistic development.
  • Educate school-going children and inculcate civic awareness in them through the CMCA (Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness) Program.
  • To empower women through education, life skills and community building.
  • Hold Art, Craft and Culture exhibitions for the public and provide for the observance of customs, festivals and ceremonies. ( Link of Chitnavis Centre)

History & Heritage

Shri.  Madhavrao Gangadharrao Chitnavis established five charitable Trusts in the year 1972:

  1. Sir Gangadharrao Chitnavis Memorial Medical Research Trust
  2. Dadimay Memorial Medical Research Trust
  3. Shri Gopalkrishna Deosthan Public Trust
  4. Sant Sonaji Maharaj Bowa Public Trust
  5. Balkrishna Deosthan Human Welfare Trust

Shri. Madhavrao Gangadharrao Chitnavis was born on 23rd November 1863 and expired on 27th June 1929.
